Bosch ME7 map switching: how ME7.5 5-map switching works.

ME7 map switching adds selectable calibration states inside the ECU so a driver can choose between intentionally different load, ignition or other verified calibration sets without reflashing the ECU for every change. This guide separates the general ME7 concept from Mapelyx production support for one exact software version.

What is ME7 map switching?

A multimap patch adds selector logic plus relocated calibration data. The selector chooses which verified calibration copy the ECU reads. The switching input can be tied to existing vehicle controls such as cruise-control states, while feedback can be shown through an existing instrument signal such as the tachometer.

What Mapelyx switches on the supported 032HS package

The current production 5-map package for 06A906032HS 0008 provides five independent LDRXN maps, five LDRXNZK maps, five KFZW maps and five KFZW2 maps. KRKTE is intentionally implemented as two selectable sets rather than five. It does not claim that every ME7 calibration table becomes five-way.

Software-specific support: a map-switching routine that works in one ME7.5 binary must not be assumed safe for another software version. Code location, references, free space, RAM use and calibration addresses have to be verified for the exact firmware.

Typical reasons for separate maps

Common legitimate calibration uses include a conservative low-load mode, a normal pump-fuel calibration, a higher-octane calibration, a valet-style load limit or a hardware-specific test calibration. The correct values still depend on the actual vehicle, fuel, hardware and logs.

Map switching is not the same thing as 5120 scaling

Map switching selects between calibration sets. The ME7 5120 modification addresses internal pressure scaling limits. They can coexist, but one does not automatically provide the other. MAP-sensor calibration must still match the physical sensor fitted to the car.

Frequently asked questions

Can ME7.5 have multiple switchable maps?

Yes. Custom code can select between duplicated calibration tables, but the implementation must be verified for the exact ECU software.

Does a 5-map patch make every ECU table five-way?

No. Only the tables deliberately duplicated and referenced by the patch become switchable. Mapelyx lists the exact verified table set for its supported package.

Can cruise control be used to select ME7 maps?

Yes, custom routines can use cruise-control states as a selector input when the exact software implementation and safety gating are verified.

Is ME7 map switching the same as changing boost?

No. A selectable map can contain a different load limit, but ME7 boost behavior also depends on the torque/load model, pressure-ratio limits, boost-control tables, sensors and hardware.
